Pull up a cushion and join me on the Big Red Sofa today. It feels like a long time since we sat on the sofa and had a chat.
October was a busy month with the #write31days series. This year it seemed like a good year to start a podcast during that series too, thus Living a Redeemed Life was born. I had three trips in October too…a week long trip for work, a blogging conference, and then my high school reunion weekend. After which it seemed like a good idea to change job positions at The Crossnore School. And finally, November 1 was the deadline for getting the book my mom and I have been working on published.
I guess it is no wonder that I literally and figuratively feel into a heap this past weekend. What in the world was I thinking before October started? That I was Super Woman? Or that I had more than 24 hours in a day? Or maybe I was just a tad on the crazy side. 🙂
Oh well, whichever way it went, October is past and all those projects are completed. So having no choice but to rest and get to feeling better over the weekend was exactly what I needed. And all those things I listed up there in the first paragraph, well, there will be more to come on the blog about the podcast, the new job, and the book. But maybe I’ll take it a little slower this time around.
One of the things I enjoyed this weekend was diving into a new study from Margaret Feinberg that I just received in the mail. Since I had recently participated in a training at work where we talked about taking care of ourselves and used a coloring sheet to practice taking a few minutes to breathe and relax, it seemed appropriate to order an entire coloring book for adults! And when it was tied to scripture, well what more could a gal want, right?
Sunday morning was spent sitting on the sofa and meditating, praying, and coloring over this scripture:
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. I John 3:1a
I loved this verse so much that I made it my next memory verse too.
As I colored in the words and the flowers…and went over the words again and again in my head…I felt the Lord speaking several things to me…
He loves each of us completely. We don’t have to worry about earning it or losing it.
He loves each of us individually. His love for each of us doesn’t diminish His love for all of us.
He loves each of us so that we will love others. We can’t keep such a gift to ourselves.
Because of God’s love for us, we were made alive in Christ and created in Him to do good works (Ephesians 2:1-1). His creativity fuels ours…not just in the arts, but in the ways that we love others, show hospitality, and share His story.
As you feel His love wash over you today, won’t you allow it to move in you to show love to others?
Thanks for creating community here with us! The Big Red Sofa Series is about the things I see in life that make me go hmmmm. What God teaches me in scripture. The ordinary things that God can use to drive home spiritual lessons. The questions I sometimes ask. The stories we can all share. So pull up a cushion and join me on the sofa. I’d love to hear from you!
